Teenager killed at Ziro under mysterious circumstances

ITANAGAR, Oct 6: A teenager identified as Hage Hassang (17 years) has reportedly been killed under mysterious circumstances at Ziro on Sunday evening, police said.
Ziro police said that late Hassang was found unconscious at Govt Higher Secondary School Ziro around 3 am on Sunday from where he was immediately rushed to the district hospital. Later, he was evacuated to RK Mission Hospital for further treatment, wherein he succumbed to his injuries, police added.
The body was shifted back to Hassang’s hometown and has been handed over to his aggrieved family for last rites after post mortem.
Police further disclosed that Late Hassang sustained grievous head injuries, which is believed to be the cause that led to his death.
Meanwhile, Apatani Youth Association (AYA) condemning the incident has demanded early

Felix surveys probable site for Film and Television institute
ITANAGAR, Oct 6: Parliamentary Secretary, IPR and education, Bamang Felix made a feasibility survey of the probable site for the upcoming Film and Television Institute at Jote today.
On invitation from the people of Jote, Felix accompanied by IPR Secretary Dani Salu, IPR Director CM Longphong and Joint Director, Art and Culture, J Siram had a discussion with the senior leaders of the area. He informed them about the proposal for establishment of Film and Television Institute by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He further disclosed that the institute will be similar in standard and size to that of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata.
A vast area on the right bank of Poma River measuring about 300 acres with plentiful natural beauty, the site is an ideal location for such institute. With the coming up of National Institute of Technology, Entrepreneur Development Institute, Government Law College and Regional Culture Centre, Excellence Centre for Sports proposed by Sports Authority of India in its periphery, the area could develop to be an educational hub and an added tourist destination.

Education and awareness needed to conserve wildlife

India is celebrating the 60th National Wildlife Week from October 2 to 8 with the objective of creating public awareness about the importance of preserving wildlife.
Arunachal Pradesh also joined the nation in celebrating the wildlife week to create
mass awareness about the rich wildlife resources and its value and need for sustainable

However, wildlife biologists generally consider higher vertebrates such amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals as wildlife. Wildlife is nature’s gift to humankind and this gift is bestowed lavishly to Arunachal Pradesh which harbours 217 species of mammals, 832 species of birds, 55 species of amphibians, 213 species of fishes and 115 species of reptiles. Moreover, new species are still being discovered every year. Recent description of new species of monkey Macaca munzala, a bird Liochicla bugunorum and about six new species of fish psylorynchus arunachalensis, Badis singenensis, Garra Kalpangi, Garra arupi, Garra arunachalensis, Garra magnidiscus etc during the last decade is an evidence of the relatively less explored rich wildlife of the state.
Though Arunachal Pradesh is known as ‘Biological Goldmine’ or Biological Frontier’ of India, the state’s wildlife is under tremendous threat from our development activities. Conversion of forest land into agriculture, horticulture, rubber plantation, tea plantation field and construction of hydroelectric dam, urbanization, village expansion are also causing great loss to wildlife habitat. Burning of forests, use of pesticide, overgrazing by cattle, massive release of radiation, unplanned waste disposal etc. has led to degradation of wildlife habitat. Construction of roads, railway tracks, digging of water canals, erection of fencings, high voltage power lines etc fragment the wildlife habitats. Rampant hunting for meat as well as for commercial purpose in rural areas is leading to overexploitation of the wildlife. If the trend continues to go unabated we will loss our wildlife in very short period. But we can’t afford to loss wildlife further as it has immense values for our survival and existence as well.

Though several wildlife laws such as Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Biodiversity Act 2002, Forest Protection (Conservation) Act 1980 etc. and fanfare wildlife programme like Project Tiger,1973, Project Elephant, 1992, Project Snow Leopard, 2009 etc., are in force in the state they have proved to be unsuccessful in halting the rapid loss of wildlife in the state.
We can’t choose wildlife conservation at the cost of development. The present situation necessitates us to find ways and means that will ensure progress and wildlife conservation to go hand in hand. The need of the hour is a strong and powerful education programme to produce trained wildlife experts for research and sustainable management and conservation of wildlife in the state. Also, a mass awareness on rich wildlife resources and its benefit is necessary. Trained wildlife biologists, who know the pros and cons of the matter, are needed to carry out the awareness programme. Unfortunately, no single institution exists in the state to produce such skilled personnel to study and sustainably manage and conserve wildlife.
Wildlife education in the state will not only cater to produce wildlife professionals
who can scientifically promote and conserve wildlife and their habitats but also
will open wide range of career options for the students. Wildlife biologist, Wildlife
ecologist, Wildlife Manager, Wildlife academician, Wildlife Conservationist, Wildlife
Forensic specialist, Wildlife health and husbandry specialist, Wildlife scientists,
Wildlife researcher, Wildlife photographer/journalist, Subject specialist (Ornithologist,
Herpetologist, Primatologist etc.),Wildlife consultant, Environmental Impact Analyst
etc. are some of the career options. It will also open a plethora of job opportunities
for wildlife professionals not only in the state and country but also abroad. Some
job opportunities are Curator in National /State Zoological Parks and Natural Museum,
Wildlife biologist in National Zoological Parks/National Park, Sanctuary under Central
and State Forest Departments, Assistant Professor, Lecturer in Wildlife Science,
Wildlife Health, Wildlife Management in Agricultural, Fisheries, Science and others

institutes and Government Departments and in wildlife protected areas, Researchers,

SEPPA, Oct 6: The Govt. Higher Secondary School Bebo, Seppa lifted the football trophies for both boys and girls in the 7th Lt. Rasho Yangda Memorial Sports Meet 2014 at General Ground Seppa.
The boys’ team defeated Govt. Higher Secondary School Bazarline 4-
Ram Yamdo of ME School Seba and Yana Tallang of GHSS Bebo were adjudged as the best football players in boys and girls category respectively. Dadi Dawe and Yame Kino both from Govt. Sec. School, New Seppa were adjudged as the best goalkeepers in boys and girls football.
In volleyball, ME School Pabua boys’ team emerged winner defeating GHSS Bazarline in the final while GHSS Bebo girls’ team outplayed GHSS Bazarline to win the titles. The winners were awarded cash prizes along with trophies.
Amar Jelly of ME School Pabua and Rumi Singhi of GHSS Bebo were adjudged as the best volleyball players in boys and girls category respectively.
Atung Tayem and Karan Tallang jointly shared the honour of highest scorer in boys’ football while Rumi Singhi became the highest scorer in girls’ football.
Lal Bahadur Shastri Vidya Niketan boys’ football team was awarded the trophy for best discipline team while ME School Seba walked away with the best disciplined team award in girls’ football.
Koya Yame, Satrughan Gungli, Tacha Tallang and Raju Effa were the match officials during the final match.

RKMH registrar Dr. Mitra passed away
ITANAGAR, Oct 6: Dr. Ashok Mitra, Registrar, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital (RKMH), Itanagar, died on October 4.
Dr. Mitra joined RKMH as Medical Officer in 1989, and later he was promoted to the post of Registrar.
“Dr. Mitra was a very helpful person and was popular amongst all. He always stood by the hospital authorities and the staff during any time. He was well known to patients for his helping nature. His untimely demise has left everyone in a state great shock,” hospital authority said in a release.
The members of the managing committee, monastic members and the entire staff of the hospital conveyed deep sense of condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Mitra, and prayed to almighty to rest his departed soul in peace.

Shelling by Pakistani force, a cause of concern
Five people were killed in Jammu region due to heavy shelling by Pakistani forces. The overnight attacks by Pakistani forces have triggered panic among the border villagers. Such is the intensity of the firing and shelling that 82mm mortar shells landed in Mahasha da Kote and Arnia town, which is around 5km away from the international border in Jammu district. Carcasses of animals killed due to splinter injuries were also seen strewn in Kaku di Kotha and other areas of Jammu.
Surprisingly Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been addressing election rallies in poll bound states of Maharasthra and Haryana is keeping mum on this issue. He has not uttered a single word about the continuous shelling by Pakistani forces. Prior to his elevation as PM, Modi had strongly criticized the previous Congress regime for being soft while responding to such provocative acts of Pakistan. Defence minister Arun Jaitley did made a statement this evening by deploring the ceasefire violations by Pakistan and said the Indian armed forces were "fully ready" and are responding to each of these provocations from across the border. Apart from these regular statements, the government of India will have to take long term measures to address the concern, so that poor villagers living along the international boundary can live peacefully.

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to state regarding the “eviction drive notification issued by the District Administration of Longding.
At the very outset, I would like to clarify that I am personally against encroachment of government land by individuals.
However, I am writing for the systematization of the Department of Land Management in the District.

Recently, the District administration ordered for eviction drive in the District which has completely brought misunderstanding among the public. If one enquires about the revenue, the collection of the district is less as the allotment of land to denizens is relatively very few.
There is a need for trained officers to streamline the department. A District Land Settlement Officer (DLSO) should be in the Administration as the officers or staffs who are trained would able to interpret the norms, rules and regulations set aside by the government.
The people who have lived in a land of their forefathers would not be leaving the land just for a notification. I feel that there is some communication gap between the public and the administration which need to be solved. Eviction drive without proper knowledge and understanding would create chaos and would affect the social peace and tranquillity of the people.

Recently the court has sentenced Jayalalita to a four year jail term in the disproportionate assets case.
In response to the verdict, atleast 16 persons, including students are believed to have killed themselves. It clearly shows that corruption is encouraged by the people. If a person commits crime, let them be punished according to the law because the law is equal for all.
There is no rich no poor in front of the law. I’m not against any person but against corruption. So, corrupt persons should not be encouraged in future.

Intervene in job recruitment

This new changes will give lots of trouble and financial burden to poor candidates of state like Arunachal Pradesh. Candidates of Arunachal Pradesh will have to reach state capital, Itanagar first and move for Guwahti, Assam which is around 400 km far away. Then there are expenses of food, lodging and travelling.

By bringing this change, candidates of Arunachal Pradesh are being indirectly deprived
of central govt. job opportunity and are being discriminated because candidates from

State of Kusi kusi and graveyard of sophisticated instruments
Dear Editor,
When I was a school going kid, I remember my seniors around me shouting, “Arunachal is a land of kusi kusi”!
Today after so many years I have realized the truth and depth of those words. People say golden words are not repeated they are chiselled. Very true, these very 7 words are chiselled in history of Arunachal Pradesh. After so many years of statehood, I think our state is least productive state, yet, you see so many Richie rich around cruising in costly and fancy cars.
Have we realised, where all these money come from? Well if you really want to know, you need not look around, you have it with you. Everyone know the fact that “Necessity is the mother of invention”, but where is it written that to build a state one needs to be corrupt one? It’s been ages that I have seen progress around my vicinity. All I see is patching up works. Needless works are being consented. For example, look at the Regional Diagnostic Centre at Ruksin CHC.
RDC has become the graveyard of sophisticated medical instruments. Though valiant effort has been done to revive the RDC, in recent past, all efforts have been in vain. These sophisticated instruments were for diagnosis of critical illness. But we are yet to avail the services since 2006. Well it’s not all authorities fault. Some accreditations have to be given to the people also, for their unbelievable unawareness and incapability. Another great example is Industrial Growth Centre at Niglok. I would rather like to invite, those interested, to have a look around multicrore IGC Niglok Project. The structures are in shambles and in another year or two all building will collapse. My point is, if u can’t give good finishing, why start all these projects. Why spend crores of money just to show off. We can at least use that money in some small but high yielding projects. Its pity that that we are all part of the system that is killing our own backyard. Another worse part of our system is endless transfer of officers. I am not against time bound transfers of officers but transferring good officers to satisfy ones issue is worthless. It’s not democracy. It’s not an act of valor but an act of cowardness. Good citizen should not let this happen.
My request to all good citizen of Arunachal Pradesh is take active part in any endeavours, never let authorities run away from projects, prepare checklist, and inform designated officers from time to time.
In my opinion if “kusi kusi” stays within us for a decade or two, it will not be helpful for the development of the state.
